Transportation Design: Rural Rehabilitation
USH 18, Crawford County
KL Engineering completed the design of this 3-mile rehabilitation project along USH 18/STH 35 in Crawford County. The project included intersection improvements, addition of a climbing lane, right-of-way plat, public involvement, environment documentation, two box culvert extensions, retaining wall, beam guard upgrades, and existing asphalt and concrete pavement reconditioning. The project also included design of a conceptual 4-lane alternative.
The intersection and climbing lane design minimized right of way and environmental impacts, while the design improvements were made to be compatible with future 4-lane expansion and area development. The $2.0 million project was constructed in 2003.
