PINE, MAIN AND MILL STREETS (STH 110) As prime consultant for WisDOT North Central Region (Wisconsin Rapids), KL Engineering completed a route alternative study for a 1.6-mile section of STH 110 in the City of Weyauwega. As a result of KL Engineering's performance in completing the route alternative study, the firm was chosen to complete the engineering design for the reconstruction project. In addition, KL Engineering was selected to coordinate, design, and develop an extensive streetscaping plan for downtown Weyauwega. The route alternative study required extensive coordination with the City of Weyauwega, adjacent townships, and WisDOT. KL Engineering evaluated three different routes and made a recommendation as to which alternative should be designed and constructed. The engineering design for the reconstruction included redesign of the existing roadway, storm sewer system improvements, bridge replacement, and sanitary sewer and water main replacement. The streetscaping plan involved coordination with the community to develop a vision for the area. A theme was developed through input from local officials and community residents. The plan incorporated decorative lighting, stamped colored concrete, tree plantings with decorative grates, pedestrian bump-outs, a bridge with decorative railings and form liners, and a mid-block table-top pedestrian crosswalk. Project was constructed in 2003. Cost: $3.3 million. Back to Portfolio |
